My approach & philosophy
I am engaged, compassionate, and collaborative. This means that I am very active in the room, asking questions, teaching skills, helping you practice those skills in session, and coaching you in mindfulness exercises. Therapy can be hard work that includes emotionally heavy lifting, and yet it can also be playful and fun, just like your relationships. Like many therapists, I have done my own mental health work and I don’t come from a perfect background. Most of us weren’t exactly taught the most effective communication and relationship skills. You can’t do what you were never taught, so there’s no shame in going to therapy to learn and practice these skills.
I work to make sure client strengths and unique identities are honored and to support the creation of greater confidence in each person, allowing you to achieve a deeper connection in relationships. The foundation of our work would focus on compassion, communication, and understanding how you see yourself so that you can have a better relationship with yourself, and with those around you. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I am uniquely able to understand the complex interplay between all the areas of your life. Beyond this foundational work, you have your own unique goals that we will put into action.
While I take mental health and our work very seriously, at times I like to bring a sense of playfulness to the space. I’m going to work as hard as you will. I’m going to be empathetic and compassionate toward you, and I’m going to hold that space so you can do it for yourself. I am highly committed to staying current on the latest research and treatment methods in the field. I am constantly reading relevant books and attending conferences and trainings to assure that I am educated and up-to-date. And like many other therapists, I own 10,000 cardigans and there are orchids everywhere.

My history
I started my career in the business world. I worked as a VP for a large dealership for seven years, but as time went on found myself wanting to help people in a different and more personal way.
In 2013 I went to grad school to pursue a degree and training in couple and family therapy, with a specialization in sex therapy.
In 2016 I opened Kindred Counseling Center, combining my expertise in the business world with my love for helping people. I am so thankful to be living the kind of life that gives me purpose every single day and to work with so many incredible people.
My expertise
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, which means that I completed rigorous training and educational coursework specifically related to sex therapy. I can work with you to address performance anxiety, desire discrepancy, and sexual dysfunction. I enjoy working with individuals, couples (monogamous and non-monogamous) and am kink, poly, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. You can read more about what is required for AASECT Sex Therapist Certification here.
